The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forums, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)—one of the United Nations' (UN) specialized agencies and a founding member of which our country is—to support the use of digital transformation in line with sustainable development goals and the construction of the information society, is a multi-stakeholder global platform that aims to examine the impacts of information and communication technologies on development and discuss best practice examples.
Each year, within the WSIS Forums, "WSIS Prizes" are awarded to promote and support projects that contribute to development using information and communication technologies. The awards given to "Champions" and "Winners," determined through a public online voting process across 18 separate categories, aim to make projects targeting inclusive, sustainable, and digital development visible on the international stage.
This year, WSIS Forum 2025, branded as the "WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025," will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 7-11, 2025, and the 2025 WSIS Prizes will be presented to their recipients at the award ceremony on July 8, 2025.
