The Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK), in collaboration with Japan's National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) and Medipol University, held the TeraHertz Communication Technologies Workshop at the BTK Conference Hall.
The workshop, opened by BTK Deputy President Rıdvan Kahveci, was attended by Dr. Iwao Hosako, Director of the TeraHertz Technology Research Center from NICT, and Dr. Hiroyo Ogawa.
The panel, moderated by Dr. Tunçer Baykaş from Medipol University, was also attended by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Görçin, Deputy President of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, Afşin Büyükbaş, Head of BTK Spectrum Management Department, Prof. Dr. Erdal Arıkan from İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University, and Prof. Dr. Ali Özgür Yılmaz from Middle East Technical University.
The workshop discussed the usage areas of TeraHertz bands, which have been used so far in security applications and various fields, from the perspective of information and communication technologies. TeraHertz bands are expected to provide significant solution opportunities in the long term for 5G and Beyond technologies. The importance of starting preparations now for technologies that will shape the coming decades and conducting long-term planning was among the topics emphasized at the workshop. Additionally, cooperation opportunities between Japan and Turkey, particularly in TeraHertz Communication Technologies, as well as next-generation networks and technologies, were also brought to the agenda.
