Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the 15th International Information Security and Cryptology Conference held at the Presidential Complex National Library. Minister Karaismailoğlu made statements on many topics, from the Metaverse to the success of USOM.
In his speech, Minister Karaismailoğlu pointed out that in the rapidly advancing digital age, major leaps occur every 10 years, and stated that the use of the Metaverse, along with NFTs and cryptocurrencies, is accelerating.
Expressing that the virtual sector is beginning to make its mark in the defense sector alongside games, Karaismailoğlu said, "With this movement in the Metaverse, data security has come to the fore even more. In addition, concerns about privacy and intimacy have begun. Every kind of action considered a crime in real life is being carried out recklessly in the digital world."
Speaking also about the Disinformation Law, Karaismailoğlu said, "The 'disinformation law,' which was accepted by our esteemed Grand National Assembly and entered into force on October 18 with the approval of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has become a very important step taken by our government to ensure that our people have access to accurate and healthy information. Those who hide among fake identities and attempt smear campaigns, character assassinations through insults and slander, and those who want to incite our country and our nation with fake news and distorted information will now think not once, but three times. I want it to be known that we will continue to take every step necessary to protect the rights of our nation, to safeguard their privacy and secrecy."
Li-Fi is Coming Instead of Wi-Fi in 6G Communication Technologies
Noting that as of the end of June 2022, Turkey was detected to be in the top 20 among all countries in the world in terms of total internet users, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that in the ranking among European countries, our country is also among the top 5 countries along with countries like Germany, the UK, and France.
Underlining that in the communication environment provided by communication satellites, in 6G communication technologies, instead of Wi-Fi, Li-Fi, that is, communication technologies with visible light using high-energy LEDs, will be used, Karaismailoğlu stated that we will get acquainted with three-dimensional sensory extended reality, high-quality mobile holograms, and digital twins.
Expressing that the Ministry carries out its policy-making duties in the field of cybersecurity, Karaismailoğlu said that the National Cyber Incident Response Center (USOM), organized under the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), has also achieved successful works.
Emphasizing that they are obliged to make Turkey an effective power in the world in transportation, communication, satellite and space studies, as well as in cybersecurity, Karaismailoğlu said, "With these efforts, we take pride in serving our young and dynamic nation, and we fully trust our youth to whom we will entrust these works. We do not categorize our youth with numbers and letters like others do. We raise our youth, whom we see as the light of our eyes, as pioneers in information and communication technologies, possessing national and spiritual values. We define our youth as 'Teknofest youth.' We see the century we are in as the 'Turkish Century.'"
